Calendar of Events
Events offered by the ICCA are open to everyone, including club members and friends. The following is a list of events we hold annually:
The female "giver of gifts" to Italian Children. This older woman brings gifts to good little boys and girls. Early January open to members and friends of all ages. No charge.
"Festa dei Cacciatori" ... a feast for those who love wild game. This event is put on by the Trevisani nel Mondo Association in late January. Tickets available to members and friends of all ages.
We bring Italy’s annual "Mardi Gras" celebration to Halifax in February . Costumes, food, prizes and dancing. Tickets available to members and friends of all ages.
An Opera Valentine
This spectacular February dinner and performance is put on in conjunction with the Nova Scotia Opera Association. Tickets sell out quickly and must be purchased in advance.
Celebrate every mother’s special day with dinner and a fashion show. Tickets for this May event are available to members and friends of all ages.
Festa della Repubblica - June 2nd
The Festa della Repubblica is Italy's equivalent of Canada's 1st of July.It's celebrated on the second day of June andcommemorates the institutional referendum of 1946 when (by universal suffrage) the Italian population was called to decide what form of government (monarchy or republic) to give to the country after the second world war and the fall of Fascism.
The ICCA participates in this special gathering of cultures on the Dartmouth waterfront in June put on by the Multicultural Association of Nova Scotia.
July / August
Games, contests, family, friends. Bring your favourite food … and it’s all you’d expect from a summer picnic. The fun takes place at Graves Island National Park picnic area during either July or August everyone welcome, no charge.
The emphasis of this events is attract as many members of the community as possible to the club. Every year thousands of people from all over Nova Scotia attend this 3-day event which displays "All Things Italian, " including Italian culture, food, bocce, exhibits, and entertainment. This can’t miss weekend takes place early September . Everyone is welcome.
ICCA Remembrance Day Mass and Supper
Remembrance Day is observed with a Remembrance Day Mass in Italian followed by a special dinner.
The ICCA’s annual formal Gala. This gala includes dinner, live entertainment and a dance. Tickets for this late November event are available to young adults and up.
Christmas Tree Decorating and Potluck Dinner
ICCA hosts a Christmas Tree Decorating and Potluck Dinner. Members bring a donation for the Metro Food Bank and a specialty for the potluck dinner. Children create special ornaments for the tree. Children from the Italian Language School sing as a group in Italian.
New Year’s Eve
Ring in the New Year with us! Dinner and dance. Tickets available to everyone, all ages are welcome.
