Planning a trip to Italy? This beginner Italian course for travel is designed to help you communicate with confidence in real-life situations, not just memorize phrases.
Starting from zero, you’ll build a strong foundation in Italian pronunciation, basic grammar, and essential vocabulary, while learning exactly what you need for travel. From ordering in cafés to asking for directions, you’ll understand what you’re saying and how to respond.
This is our full Absolute Beginner Italian course with a travel focus, giving you both the basics of the language and the ability to use it where it matters most.
The twice-weekly schedule makes this an intensive Italian course for travellers, ideal if you have an upcoming trip and want to make real progress quickly.
Classes are held online via Zoom, with a final in-person session at the ICCA where you’ll take part in a travel-style practice night. You’ll use your new skills in face-to-face conversations that feel like being in Italy, before you even leave.
What You Will Learn
By the end of this Italian for travel course, you will be able to:
- Introduce yourself and manage simple conversations
- Understand and use essential travel vocabulary such as numbers, times, directions, transportation, food, and drink
- Order confidently in cafés and restaurants
- Ask for directions and understand responses
- Check into accommodations, buy tickets, and handle everyday travel situations
- Build your own sentences using basic grammar (present tense verbs, sentence structure, gender and number)
- Feel more confident listening to and speaking Italian during your trip

Schedule: Mondays and Thursdays, 6:30–8:30 PM (May–June 2026)
Format: 9 online classes via Zoom + 1 in-person final practice session
Level: Absolute Beginner (no previous Italian required)
Class Size: Minimum 8 students, maximum 20
Fee: $185 (HST included) for all 10 classes
